A Collector’s Approach
As a child, Joost spent countless summers searching the Dutch coastline for shark teeth and exploring the hills of Limburg for fossils hidden beneath the surface. These discoveries sparked a lifelong fascination with geology, natural history and the extraordinary processes that shape our planet.
Years later, while searching for distinctive objects for his own home, that fascination was reignited. Minerals, fossils and gemstones revealed themselves not only as geological wonders, but as natural sculptures shaped by millions of years of Earth’s history. What began as a personal collection gradually became Smeets — Gemstones & Minerals.
Today, guided by an eye for authenticity, form and visual impact, he personally selects every piece in the collection.
